basilmemories: (My eyes!)
So you know how I may have mentioned that my credit card info was stolen? Well they froze the account per my request and today I finally was able to get into the police department. The guy looks up the customer service numbers of the company and gets a hold of the rep, who pretty much gives out that “the person didn’t have an address but put in the correct phone number and here’s the email” sorta bullshit. Cop man then says that he can track who made the transactions but~

-And then he gets all pissyface at me and says that it sounds like it’s coming from my place and that only a friend or family could have gotten the authorization code on the back. The one part of me wanted to say, “Haven’t you EVER heard of a phishing incident?” but I was already being glared at because, “you seem to know about these sorts of things…” yes, I know what an MP3 is, and porn, the voip thing? No idea what that was until you told me asshole, what I had said was that I used skype to talk to other skype-users for free. Also, would not rent movies over the intarwebs.

So he’s going to track down the computer of the person who made the transactions, and he’s still all annoyed and asking if I’m sure that it wasn’t my friends or family or me. Because if the trace goes back to me CLEARLY I’m guilty as sin.

Yeah, he was telling me I had a choice between the possibility of being wrongly charged with defrauding my bank, or letting a potential hacker keep getting away with shit and have a 400$ charge to boot.

This whole godamn thing is so special that it defies words.
