I hate the Princess.
I don’t think I’ve informed anyone on my employment situation, and it’s pretty necessary to understand the mess going on at my other work.
I have another job other then the florist, I work at an arcade, one that recently underwent a major staff change as most of the members other then I packed up their bags and moved to Las Vegas. It was during this time that the old manager looked at me and said, “Hey, I’m recommending you for assistant manager position.” Now I was thrilled, not only came with it a pay raise, but also I was able to say I had managerial experience on any resumes I might send out in the near future. I was to be trained, and then promoted from my in-training status (which was a step-up from the spot I was in) and yadda yadda yadda.
Then another worker got hired, a friend of one of the people leaving, and right away he started on how HE should have been recommended, because he had experience. Now the main thing keeping me from tearing him a new one was that he was trained as a marine, and he could intimidate the crap out of me.
So last week or so I get called in by the new manager, who is the bestest best manager I’ve had this side of my flower-shop bosses, and tells me that it’s not my fault at all, but he just can’t throw me to the wolves trained as I am and that new guy is going to be considered for the spot. I tell him that I was promised the deal and that I understand his position on the matter, but I would like to at least have the company keep their damn promises. Things got worked out. Kinda. I’m one spot ahead of where I was before, one spot behind the training position, and forced to deal with the new guy’s arrogance. Still haven’t got the pay bonus coming with the deal yet though.
Now that’s just the BACKSTORY; here’s where the real fun begins:
About the time I was getting demoted we got another person on, who somehow managed to bring the lazy more then I did. Right away I started smelling pot smoke on the guy, reported it because hello CHILDREN AROUND and he found out it was me; it is the start of a beauuuutiful relationship I tell you. He constantly breaks rules then acts like a little angel around the head honcho, and in his case the only thing that keeps me from tearing this one a new hole is that he really doesn’t give a shit if he gets fired… and there are laws against maiming people if they don’t ask for it.
So today I come in to worker number two going off on worker number one, as if the latter doesn’t have seniority at all. I try and play diplomat because those two wouldn’t work together otherwise, and he gets on my case; getting me on how I’m not the AS, and that even if I was I couldn’t fire him, and also that he doesn’t obey worker number one because there IS no rank except for our boss (which isn’t true, there are ranks, and even if I am demoted, I still own his ass), and then he starts ordering me around.
Okay if I wasn’t pissed in the first place, now I wanted to rip the little bitches throat out, in the end though I told him that since he was so qualified (yeah, he even said that the boss offered him the spot as the assistant manager) that he could surely deal with the crowd of people waiting to be helped AND the tickets he needed to put into the games and left him there. He didn’t do the tickets by the way, and an hour later I had to deal with it.
Then the little whore later on makes sure that I know that he doesn’t care if he gets fired and that he doesn’t care what I say because I’m a hypocrite and a rat to boot, and acts as though I’m supposed to handle that with good grace and charity. Sorry hon, but as much as I like the Victorian age, I don’t play by their rules of etiquette, I’m a vindictive bitch and I’m gunning to get your ass out of the store. I’m going to keep tabs on the guy, and have my friends make formal complaints if they catch him on something (have to keep it semi-legal you know) also worker one’s parent has been informed of the situation (who I am on good terms with, as well as worker one, just his machismo gets to me) and she’s pissed, not only does the guy have to walk in the cold for the rest of his employment, but also she’s keeping tabs on him as well… and not only does the boss live at her place right now, she’s got his number on speed-dial.
Now I’m sure you guys are saying, “What the hell Basil? That doesn’t seem too bad; you don’t need to start a crusade here.” But honestly that’s only part of what occurred, the rest I can’t remember much of.
And also it’s a matter of that the princess (his new nickname, as I can’t think of a more demeaning, bitchy name then that) doesn’t want to change his bad habits, he even frothily defends them. I can recall the day after he found out I had ‘ratted’ his ass out about the marijuana smell around him he claimed, “Hey, it’s not like you will ever catch me at it, there’s no proof”. So yeah, I don’t want that type of guy around kids, and moreover; I don’t want that type of guy around me.
In other news, anybody up for a trip to SF on Friday the 23’rd? Yami_no_eyes I’m looking at you as well as daemonitellama, and really, anyone else that wants to go. I’m thinking Chinatown and the Piers not only because I feel touristy, but also because I get something from there for a Christmas present each year. The only stipulation is that I need to be on the bus home by 4:30.
So; happy funtime trip of non-hating gooooo?
