AND NOT QUITE ALL OF THE KURO CAST, a friend ran me through the ringer after she saw the episode and I was all ";A;?! If this is how everybody feels then I'm glad I didn't app...".
I replied to Sera about the character bits, but in short: I did have major issues about the characterization, but by the end I'd accepted that this was some funky AU a la clamp where there might be the same characters, but they act different. From that view I enjoyed the ending since I was watching it in the frame of "how Alois achieves his revenge" more then "how Ciel and Sebastian's story is resolved". There are a lot of plot holes (WHY IS HE DRINKING INVISIBLE TEA. If he doesn't need to eat is he just trolling Sebastian? OR IS THERE REALLY INVISIBLE TEA IN THE CUP. What. Also dude, if you're such a babydemon that you can't control your eyes, then the eyepatch isn't gonna help.) and a lot of issues, but I figure if someone's watched the first series and how it went at the end, then the second series being so... itself, shouldn't be as big of a shock as it seemed to be to my friends. So on one hand I ironically and unironically enjoyed the ending, but if I were watching it only for Ciel and Sebastian then I could understand some of the tableflipping?
Part of my discomfort was the fact that the cast seemed to be mocking the characters the entire time. AND THEY WERE MOCK-WORTHY. Claude is the tackiest butler ever, Alois needs... god only knows what, Hannah is awesome but the show likes to up her fanservice too much. But while normally the gang in hacksaga mock things gently, this didn't seem to focus much on the positive aspects of the characters. Yes Zazzle mentioned that she enjoyed the show a little early on, but the general vibe I got from the cast in the chan was vaguely dismissive. Add on that none of the cast tagged any of the Alois appers in the beta post (even if it was to be fair and not show any bias) while piling on the Lizzie, and I got the feeling of "...Oh man, I hope this won't be an issue for Ciel and the gang. I DON'T WANT TO BE AN ASS AND ANNOY THEM 8(". After the log posted and my friend finished talking with me it only reinforced things aaand I decided not to app and go whinge.
All and all I'm glad that it's a misunderstanding! If you'd mentioned that you wanted Alois I would have probably either let you have it or still write an app and just deal with the dup. If I lost there would be someone awesome at Rp playing him and I can't honestly begrudge that. Even as of last night I still would have probably apped if I knew that you guys were cool for it. I would have figured that I wasn't getting in with a last-minute app, but I would have been fine with it too. there are still people I'd possibly like to play from the series, and it's good to know that I wouldn't be stepping on toes if I decided to try and app them.
