I could see Ciel shooting someone after buildup (didn't he shoot kelvin? I DON'T REMEMBER), But it was so out of the blue and to just some random person who was supposed to be only partially involved. But yeah, I was all, "...what? Sebastian aren't you, you know, not supposed to lie? OH ANIME."
Well yes, Sebastian is a Very Wrong Person and the manga doesn't gloss over this at all... but this is normal for anime. "Oh hey you have a terrible demon beast from hell in your basement? That's cool, we'll call him fluffy." Terrible people/characters are just THERE in manga/anime, so Sebastian never being anything then what he is doesn't really hit me on the "pervasive sense of wrongness" level. But! some people it does and that's cool too.
I'd say I saw some of that? but plot contrivance I've also seen in the manga too (it's hard to avoid when you have a demon butler around). I feel about the series like a feel about a surprisingly interesting B movie: it's bad, you know this, but when something interesting comes up you vaguely feel like you want to defend your opinion about how kinda enjoyed that part while your friends rip into it.
Yeah, I mean I've divorced Black butler the manga and Black butler the musical and Black butler the anime for awhile now, so I never really got the "This isn't Kuroshitsuji anymore" feeling during this season (that was in season one). But in the end I can understand if people feel that way about the new series.
