Oragin of the basil.

Data transfer… Complete.

The first post on my new blog is, not surprisingly, the transfer of my old info from my craptacular old journal. Beware, emotional spewings are in the full version, the WW splat is in the short form.

Also note, some of the info from my "filler arcs and Mokuba’s" rant has been proven wrong, but hey, what did one expect from someone who had blearily watched a few dozen eps and posted at god knows what time in the morning?

Yaaaaaay...

Small post, just to inform the two people who read this, my TV has been cut off... well, at least it’s better then the electricity and phone going...

what gets me is that I don't really watch TV all that much, but the programs I _do_ watch are one of my few escapes... as much as programs about the barbarism of the middle ages do.

Filler arcs and Mokuba’s

you know that message I had before about my blog? Forget it, I’m going the simple route and just having pretty colors... Sod it... didn't look so pink in the color chooser...

okay clear the way, large tangent-y rant coming through...
WARNING SPOILERS!

I know there are going to be some people who think I'm crazy for saying this but I like the recent filler arcs in the Japanese Yugioh.
Oh yes the plot goes into the dumpster, and I can’t deny that the new characters can be unoriginal/annoying/strange, but it has some great moments that you’d never expect to see.
In other words, it’s mediocre fanfic.
First on the list you have “Bad-ass Mai.” Who single-handedly takes out an entire motorcycle gang, ending the entire affair with an exploding gas station. Ok, it did remind me of the scene from the ‘modern retelling’ of _Romeo_and_Juliet_, but mind you that was one of my favorite scenes. (Yeah yeah love crap, get to the death! Mmm, testosterone…)
Next you have the members of doom… now I think this was where the last spark of creativity went. Also I'm sure the mangaka wrote the thing in between moments when he wasn’t penning out the Egyptian arc… but oh well, at least it’s interesting, and how can you not love an organization so ridiculous they call themselves “DOOM”?
You have Amelda, who, despite the strangely womanish chest and name, is one of the more intriguing characters. He’s lost his family right off the bat, and, big surprise now, blames it on KaibaCorp. Yeah, he’s got the whole ‘revenge’ thing going on, but unlike some of the other characters *coughmalikcough* he’s not out there just to kill and torture his victim, but also he wants to impart a lesson and get some answers. In the end he does fall to Mokuba’s ‘cute eyes’, but he managed to add a notch to Seto’s guilt-belt… which is really a hard thing to do.
Varon is great. He’s cute, he’s cuddly, he makes pervy comments at Jounouchi and Mai, and he was raised by nuns! Now for those of you who don’t know me that well, I love this fact. My favorite character Hidaka Ken was raised by nuns and you just don’t see that back-story used in anime` all that much. (I'm passing over a certain colony pilot, he gets enough pimping already.) As one might expect from anybody raised by nuns in anime`, he is completely psycho. After a good number of episodes, one finds out that the little guy was in prison at 14 for brutally killing the man who burned down his church… and that afterwards, he gained his freedom by capturing the souls of every man in said prison.
Oh look, he’s the vorpal rabbit.
There are other members of the Doom group, but I only have mild interest in them, but for those who want to know, Raphael sounds like he has the voice of Bear from Hack// Sign, and Dartz is Noa ‘all grown up’… but not as cool.
Other good points of this arc are: really gay Otogi in San Francisco, Yami yugi losing it, blatant HagaXRyuzaki, OtogiXJounouchiXHonda scenes, Seto being uke, Jounouchi being even more dog-like then ever, Jounouchi calling Kaiba Seto “Seto-san”… and NOT getting rebuffed for it, and oh-so-many more.

Personally my favorite thing about the filler arcs (and out of manga arcs), is that they’ve taken one of the most damsel-in-distress characters, and let him mature.
That would be Mokuba. He goes from acting 5 in the death-T arc, to 10 in Duelist Kingdom, to 13 in Battle City. From then on things get interesting.
In the Noa arc we really get to see the kid develop. We all knew from before how devoted he was to Seto, but here we get a glimpse of perhaps some desperation behind it. He really looks like he’s clinging to straws when he explains Kaiba’s reasons for abusing him.
After the smoke has cleared, Mokuba has gotten, and then shook, his case of mind-washing, he finds himself with a much damaged Noa at his disposal. Here he sympathizes with other, even makes an offer to help the boy. He gets used, but it shows that Mokuba seems to lack the vindictive streak his older brother possesses. This ends up saving the whole group, as Noa can’t destroy the base without upsetting him. In the end, after a sacrifice made by Noa, (*sniff*) Mokuba has changed, he thinks to himself, ‘It’s not just about me anymore, I have to live for Noa now too… he’s inside me.’ Take that in any way as you will, but regardless, that’s one hell of a thing for an 11-year old to say, especially as he’s pitching two lilies into the sea while Seto is worried about him. He does stop mourning eventually, but by that time, he has other people who he’s worried about…
If the Noa arc was Mokuba first step into being… well, not a kid, the Doom arc has him taking the lead and occasionally being a punk. Sadly I haven’t seen too many of the Kaiba or Mokuba episodes from this arc, so I can only mention a few scenes that just stand out. We have the Amelda duel, where he talks the ambiguous one down _and_ attempts to fly a jet at the same time. We have the Mokuba jacking a car scene, at least I think he is… sadly I couldn’t translate that well. Oh yes we also have the Mokuba dealing with Seto’s ‘death’ part… because they couldn’t give everybody angst and leave him out.
The newest arc though, is a further change. Mokuba now acts as old as Seto, most of the time that is. He’s taken that VP mantle of his and is flaunting it, is the announcer for the new tournament and acting the part to the hilt, and just is taking a nice piece of the screen time. On the other hand, he’s also acting somewhat as his brother’s keeper, which is an amusing turn of events.
So to sum up. Yay to Mokuba development, boo to Seto losing his coat and getting the worst-designed jetpack ever!
Oh well, if things get really bad, at least I can look forward to Leon reprising his former role as Shuichi and singing "Rage Beat" during a duel.

have posted a quiz result, blog is now legitimate

Quiz Title

look at it! is it not spiniffy?!

ok, as you can see, my mood has lightened since yesterday. Yes, I am still hurt, but I figure this will pass, along with the miniscule drop of anger. (Said anger is related to the give-and-take of our relationship.)

And on that note, I start my tangent: English needs words that define 'relationship' in a better sense. for instance, it is the catch-all for any dealings with another person, be it friendship, hatred, or otherwise. then there is the second meaning, that of a romantic nature. it becomes rather annoying, just for instance *coughs and rolls eyes* that you are spinning the tale of what happened two months ago, and you say, "It's nice to know we have such an open relationship na?" to the perverted laughter of your friend.

I would say that the internet community needs to get its collective mind out of the gutter, but seeing as what the internet's lifeblood is, I doubt that is ever going to happen.

and now I segway. on the fanime 2004 forum there is talk of yaoi and yuri in this year's hentai room. to which I cry a mighty 'HALILUAH! and stag said, it is good!"

there were _so_ many grammatical errors in that sentence -_-;; (how obvious is it that I am too lazy to grammar/spell-check my post? very.)

yes, you can tell I’m about to register for classes once again. I want to try code-slinging, but seeing as my math skills are horrible, I don't want to risk it right now.

sorry those... ok, the ONE person who looks for the source material at the bottom of the page, I’m too tired to write something... and I can't find my backlog of irreverent WW things.

griffin "so why did I get out of that coma again?"

Note: for those who don’t want to listen to me whine, skip to the bottom for the obligatory WW splat. For friends and those concerned, feel free to read on. (Not like I can stop you)

Yay for low self esteem!
This post was originally going to be about two or three pages long, detailing the past few weeks, all of the interesting events that have transpired, the few dozen WW splats I thought of, and one or two fan art links that I scanned the other day.
However, I am now torso-deep in depression, so this.
I know I shouldn’t be, I’m working things into a bigger mess then they no doubt really are... I guess the kicker is that said things have been like this for such a bit of time that I can not see the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel.
Summarizing it up, there are five items that have left me in such a muck-filled state:
5) My credit rating is no doubt in the toilet, as my bill is sky-high... and no, I. Don’t. Want. Free. Credit. Advice. Or. Help. (That is to the credit debt management firms who keep calling my machine)
4) My living environment is only getting worse, and yet, I end up paying more to support it.
3) Classes have me wound into a tight ball, I don’t know if I got funding, or if they will allow me to have any until I pay off my bill. (See above.) Also, when I take classes, my workload is going to be shifted to my only days off... and I’m still going to make less.
2) My favorite time of the year has passed, and yet all the things I was looking forward to do have gone uninitiated. This was my high point in my year?
1) I feel like I have been slapped in the face. A person I consider dear took something I said in a different light then I meant, and now to her I must look like the most selfish person on the face of the earth. I almost want to say something scathing about things (purposely nebulous), but it wouldn’t have any emotional weight behind it... I just feel tired and numb inside. (I am leaving out a great deal here, though it does better explain my mood and reasoning, I don’t want to breach conduct any more then I already have.) Besides, it wouldn’t make me feel any better, and it would only cause problems.

In the end I have just decided to cancel a few things, and am taking my sweet time bathing in self-loathing. From what everybody has been saying, it seems I should hate myself.

Okay! Those who skipped can read now!

Totem: Lord of the Public transportation system.
Background cost: 4
Description: the lord (or lady) of the PTS is a very recent entity. The first case of garou meeting this totem came when a down-and-out pack of bone gnawers discovered that they had passed up the last MUNI a few hours ago. One of the ragabash, on a whim, started to chant to “the almighty spirit of the subway-busses.” Seeing as there was nobody around (and all of them were no-moons), the entire group joined in. it was but a single minute later when the K arrived, helmed by a materialized subway-spirit. Since then, many have discovered the glory that is the PTS monarch. Many Garou have questioned what this incarna has sprung from; some claim that it is a sub-aspect of the city fathers, others reason this is a gathering of many city-spirits into a higher power, but for those who follow this mighty being, origins do not matter as much as being able to get to the Moot on time. The lord of the PTS manifests as any sort of person who rides frequently in the area, a sentient device of public transportation, or a metal segmented legless dragon.
Traits: children of the PTS lord receive a -2 to any difficulty involving public transportation of any kind. (Carpools, trains, and nearly all flights don’t count. it has to be a county or city-funded device, like busses, subways, cable cars, exc.) also if a Garou is afraid of missing (or is trying to catch) any such vehicle, they may make a gnosis roll, how many successes indicates how well the driver (or the environment itself) lends itself to comply with the Garou’s wishes. In general, small favors tend to happen around PTS depots, and things that correspond to said systems. (ST’s discretion! Finding a working transfer for the route you need is one example.) On rare occasions the Lord of the PTS teaches a modified version of the rite “appease the traffic gods.” (Only works on PTS devices, but one would suggest driving the little bus on a seat, and not the dashboard… the driver might get a little testy.) Lastly, vehicles have been known to aid Garou in times of need, (Driver: “I was going along my route, and then I don’t know what I was thinking, but next I know I'm on clay and I’d accidentally hit this guy waving a gun!”)
Ban: the bonuses given by the PTS lord can only be applied to one system per day (for example, one could use it for
Golden Gate
, but not BART) and only in places that they run. Children of the PTS lord must avoid using ‘private transportation’ (anything not Public transportation, save for walking) unless absolutely necessary. They must help enrich and support any system in their area. If the children are ‘artistically inclined’ any artworks or tagging must be approved by the spirits of the PTS. (This can vary from one area to the next). Naturally, the PTS lord does NOT approve of damage to any vehicle or locale related to public transit.

Next post will have the stats for a PTS spirit; I'm too tired to put it in tonight…

Sometimes people take things out of context because they want to be mad. I doubt you're the most selfish person in the world. Obviously, if you enjoy Ninja's, you must have a few good traits right? See, the thing about Ninja's is...they practice the art of invisibility. Also, they can jump high. When you put those things together what do you think of? Answer: A delicious cheeseburger.

chibigriffin: I honestly don't have a clue who you are... but your words about fried beef... have comforted me, oddly enough.

Werewolf: the apocalypse thought of the day:
I am now convinced that there needs to be a bunch of auspices that have no meaning in the greater scheme of things... like... Pizza delivery boys! 'Satisfying the hunger of Gaia!' Rage 2 (3 if they don't like their jobs.) And are born on Friday nights, super bowl Sundays, and any given time when half the community for some unknown reason decides that, "Dude, I totally don't want to nuke a hotdog tonight, lets order out.”

... And Floral ninjas, you can't forget the floral ninjas.
Now strangely enough, I did not pull that one out of my rear, this little gem came from a discussion in the shop whereupon my co-worker was griping about the delivery being more 'spectacular'... and I (on a Naruto kick, and thinking about Ninja burger) suggested the idea.
Now we all were gung-ho about implementing this, but sadly, none of us had black cat suits, rappelling equipment, or the skills to use any of the above.

Ah yes, this is my fist post here in... Ever, so it might be good if I introduced myself. I am Aryum Grey, freelance artist, game designer, GM/Storyteller, Floral assistant (go-fer), anime enthusiast, and collage student. I think that covers it all.
