Stupid people make me sad…
-So, no I didn’t get the app in on time, mainly because I hit a snag when I was writing it and got complete writer’s block with twenty minutes to go. So, no app. At least I have a half-finished one next time apps come around; that is, unless I get my main app under control.
But no kiddies, that’s not what I’m here to rant on about. On Ryuutchis’ LJ there’s a movie she’s pimping about an alternate version of the civil war, which to me looked interesting. What do I do? Go to imdb to check it out, and see the wank splattered all over the boards; because if there’s a larger bunch of cock-mongering wankwhores then them, I haven’t seen it yet.
Now some person’s going on about how doesn’t like being called a racist because he lives in the south yadda yadda, and someone then calls him a racist anyway, and another person called Spike Lee a racist and so on. Then one genus stands up and gives this reason why an African-American can supposedly NEVER be racist:
Let us first define "racism." According to Webster (the epitome and author of white racism), racism means:
“1: belief that certain races of men are by birth and nature superior to others 2a: discrimination against the members of one or more races based on racism b: race hatred and discrimination.”
Blacks cannot ever be considered racist in a society where they will probably never have the means to act on this belief the way it was and is [en]acted upon them.
With words it is easy to label a person a racist because according to the definition all one has to do is believe they are superior to someone else thus making them a racist. But in the realm of American society and historical practice, the definition does not fit simply because the word takes on a more in-depth meaning when it is acted upon by acts of slavery, blatant oppression, and discrimination. From the racist mindset came these horrible acts.
Now if Blacks were to be considered racist in the equivalent form as that of whites, they would have to have practiced either of the above atrocities on another race. This is why it is important to understand that Blacks can never be labeled racist in the real sense of the word.
And for those who want to grasp on to that meager point that blacks can still be considered racist on a mental level; just know that it will always pale in comparison to the social, cultural, and physical oppression that whites have continually had the power to wield.
In conclusion, throwing around the word "racist" can only, truly, be applied to whites because they have the social and political tools to carry out racism.
what the hell? The guy just gave the basic definition of racism in the first line then said “no that’s not true however.” I have a tip for you fella, don’t argue the dictionary you idiot. Secondly, the “I don’t want it to mean that so it doesn’t NYAH” argument? DOESN’T WORK; that argument stopped working in kindergarten.
Thirdly, and this is separate because I want it to stand out here, where does he get this idea that because one group committed more heinous acts then the other, the lesser group can’t ever be racist? –the fuck? Racism isn’t a penis-measuring contest and the one with the less blood slathered on their member is the winner. Racism is one person thinking they’re somehow better then another because of where that other person came from and the colors of their body.
And pardon the even more ranty sidebar, but I’m tired of people using the excuse, “well our ancestors were-“ yeah, we all have people who were persecuted in our backgrounds. That’s how a lot of our ancestors got here in the first place; we ran the hell away, or we were dragged here against our will until someone finally got off their ass and said, “that’s not right”. No matter what there will be hatred and bigotry in your past, either on the part of your ancestors, or things done to your ancestors. And you have many choices on how to deal with that knowledge, but I wouldn’t suggest using it as a crutch to act like a bigot. Because frankly? I won’t see the man or woman in your lineage who was persecuted, I’ll see some asshole who’s being a prick to me for no reason that I have directly caused; and moreover should I know of your relatives’ past I’ll wonder why you’re repeating the same actions that were used against your family, instead of trying to make the world a better place by not indulging in that type of prejudice.
