Yeah I know, thus the frustration. my view of it is, "hey, i know how to put this together, just let me buy the parts and send it to me without your monsterous add-on fee saright?- well fuck you too". it's also that i'm happy with a graphics card that will run... lets say, a mmorpg that came out last year, i'm not looking for a chip that will make the screen explode from particle and glow effects. i'm not going to be taking this to a LAN party- in fact the LAN is just there so i can transfer things to and from my desktop pc. i just want it so i can play online games while leeching wireless from hotel lobbies and coffee joints near my house.

-hell, it's more of me wanting the possibility to upgrade the card later. i can deal with a lousy card if the price is right, then upgrade the sucker when i have the cash; but most of the barebones and pre-mades don't seem to want to go in that direction.

i did find two options that might work; one is the sysbuilder website that i can get a decent one... at around 1160$ before tax and shipping (way over budget), the other option is referb... which cuts costs... but it's still referbished, that's like getting a second-hand microwave; you always wonder if they gave it to you because they got a new one, or if it's going to explode in a few days.
