So things got worked out with my job… sorta.
To sum up what happened; first I wasn’t getting my breaks when I needed them, I have no problem with working through a break or two, but when your only-slightly-outranking-you boss is in his office and I’m dealing with a line of customers and my stomach is doing the acid churning deal? Not cool. So I made a fuss, then got my back hurt during my funky dance time; and then tried to work with it. Fun did not ensue; I needed to go home, and was told I’d need a doctor’s notice even though I didn’t have insurance. Then I typed up a note to OSHA, listened to mom tear a new asshole to my boss and made the post about needing a new job.
Come the next day mom-calls boss man and threatens him some more and I get my job back. When I had me next work day then my boss lays into me about waving OSHA around, (I did? I was just saying it went against ca law twice and only asked the advice of OSHA after the back incident; I didn’t even file a complaint. My mom mainly said all the crap about the report and even then I didn’t want her to.) And says that he could “bury ten employees” with the paperwork he had on me. He remarked that I’d get my breaks all right, but I’d be constantly working whenever I wasn’t on one; no momentary talks with people on the games or with co-workers, no watching people play DDR when there was a calm moment, exc.
In the end I explained why I brought up the whole load of bull was because I’d need a break and couldn’t get one a lot of times. Also I only really had a problem with Sunday, Saturday was busy yes but I have a short shift; and Monday? Yeah it gets a bit busy near the end of the day but for most of the day it’s quiet. But as I said before, with two people on the job they should both be able to get a chance to emotionally detox, (not just the higher-up of the two). Things got worked out and it came down to a situation that I may not be able to get a break at the moment I ask, but there will at least be a set of things I can do to so I can go on break in the near future, instead of getting some cryptic-ass message and a noncommittal grunt.
On a brighter note, I just got two more fans for the computer, one 90mm standard case fan, and a hard drive cooler, it’s already done wonders for the little fireball I was having a problem with a few days ago.
Also I was putzing around on newegg today and realized that I could get a more then decent system for fewer than 400 bucks. I’m setting up something for when vista comes out because my little darling Noa won’t cut it when the new OS comes out. Plus I want a new graphics card and they’re mostly X16 slots nowadays, which my motherboard doesn’t have. I figure kill two birds with one stone.
So yeah I’m broke, but I’m in a good mood. Plus when I get paid from my other job I’ll be able to pre-order the death note “how to read” with L’s true name.
