Dear world; a love letter.
Okay so yesterday was a busy day, as one might think the herding cats is bad enough, but I dare you to try it at marine world. With the clients; Calabite was running all over the place, as is his normal custom, and Hagenti freaked out on the ride up and started attacking everyone in the front seats… this included me. Apparently they both don’t like rides and the last time they had been here the staff forced them to go on some. In any case once we got in and both me and my boss informed them that there was no way that we were going on any rides at all, (I’m afraid of heights over 10-20 feet and she’s too, ah, big for most of the rides) they settled down.
When Eli made a mess of himself with the other group, boss-woman gave me Hagenti and told me to go have fun, which I did because YAY MARINE WORLD! I have very fond memories of the place, I loved going into the butterfly house and trying to get one of those little buggers on me, and also seeing the sharks, and the bird feeding, and the cat shows, and the obligatory “get your ass wet by a giant sea mammal” show. Also they had the best punch ever, seriously, I drank like five gallons of that shit one time; and the fact that is came in a cute little wildlife cup I think may have just made it better.
Remember people, I was around five to seven at that time. I still want that recipe for the fruit punch though.
But in any case this visit wasn’t bad, if you could look past that one of my favorite aquarium exhibits was replaced by a merchandise store, and that those damn rides were everywhere, and that there was a 500% or so price increase, or the cages still being too small, or that the damn orca tank looked like it hadn’t been cleaned or painted since I was last there… oh about fourteen years ago.
Yeah, okay a few things bugged me, but hey, there were quite a few good bits too. Take for example that I got a butterfly on me for the first time ever, which was awesome because all the kiddies were going “HOW?!” Or the best five dollars spent, otherwise known as the water jets on white water rapids. A family of twelve in an over inflated raft and me with both ands on the buttons? Is a wonderful feeling. Also amusing was the fact that the shy girl tiger was named Kisa. Yeah, I love whoever was naming the babies two years ago.
Also I managed to play Wii! Oh god how I want this game system now, I mean, I suck at the controls, but it’s so damn fun. I hate to say this, but most games these days are about providing a challenge to hurtle, and while the reward is good, it’s just not exactly fun to get there. The Wii games I played were sort of the opposite, who cares that you make a cg omelet or splat a bug, but it was just fun to do it.
So yeah, had a good day, then came home and was bitched at, but what ‘cha gonna do?
Also as a side note, I want Teikoku Sensenki brought over here NOW. BL game plus a strategy game? And with art by Yura? How can this not be awesome. Also if anyone’s fan-translated it yet and has it for download… uh let me know okay?
