I never thought I'd love the government, or turbotax

Today my other w2 came in and so I sat down to the usual mess of doing taxes. I've yet to ever break the "holy shit you're poor" barrier, so I figured I'd be getting some money in, about a hundred or so, nothing big. It's enough for say, food.

So when I sat down with my piddly paychecks (for those of you keeping track, I made all of 300$ at my special needs house, and 6k at target. Sure I worked for target for 7 months and the special needs home for about three or four months, but it still says something)it turns out that I'm instead getting back 400. Even if I split half of that with my mom, it's still enough to go out and get a few belated holiday/birthday gifts, which just makes me feel happy in that soft squishy part of my feelings.

But! what came up also was one of the "you're under 12,000$ in income" credits for my taxes, thinking I might as well give it a shot, according to the program I qualified, and added on a tax credit worth an additional 400 or so. At that exact moment after I filed the thing I had but one thought on my mind.

What the hell am I going to do with all of that?! I mean no, I can't afford anything really big, but after buying persona 4 and a few things and giving some away, I'm still at like, 600$. Okay, there's a good chance I'll upgrade my monitor or get part of my dental work done, but still, holy shit guys.

Guys it feels weird to have this paper stuff.

Aha hon, money's already tight. Also my mother reserves the "right" to take my cash whenever I have some free.

Man, that's awesome. I may have to give TurboTax a try myself. Saving it's probably your best bet, though, as boring as that is.

Save it. It sucks, but I don't think that's enough for any of the dental procedures you have left.

Well, I don't have enough for the wisdom teeth or the crown, but depending on where I go I might have enough for some of the five cavities. Those were diagnosed about over a year ago, so I want to get them before they become root canals too.

But yeah, I'm also leery about saving it because... well, you know how mom gets when she knows I have money coming to me.

It can still become more than that. I was aka 'poor' one year and got back like 900. So it could happen. And put it way for a rainy day so you have it for later. Thats what I did. It all works out. Good luck! ^_^
